Jan 8-15, 2011 Dr. Wilson led an eye mission to Milot, Haiti. This
was her 16th eye mission and her third eye mission to Haiti. Their
team of four OD's, two opticians and three lay people provided eye
exams and glasses for 1,619 patients in 5 small towns in northern
Haiti. The donated glasses were prepared, sorted and shipped by VOSH
DelVal, who also provided the use of the portable equipment.
The team was hosted by churches in each town, and they refered
78 patients for cataract surgery and 150 patients for glaucoma
surgery. The surgical eye team arrived two weeks later and perfomed
180 laser and 32 surgical procedures.
One of the team members
was Dr. Wilson's son, Jon, who is a senior in High School. It was
Jon's second eye mission and they are planning to return to Haiti
the same time next year. |
